Dr. Peter Leigh Kingsford was born on December 26, 1943 and passed on November 25, 2025. He was born in Providence, RI. His family moved to Swansea, MA where he lived two houses down from his high school sweetheart, Denise. During high school, he achieved one of his proudest accomplishments-becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Barrington College and joined the Coast Guard. He made it back from boot camp the morning of his wedding to Denise. Their first duty station assignment was Mobile, AL. After his service in the Coast Guard, he worked as a teacher and then as a principal for several schools in Mobile County. He retired from his position as long-time principal of Augusta Evans. He then taught at several colleges in the Mobile area and finally took the position of Dean for the School of Education at the University of Mobile. Because of his time at Augusta Evans and at the University of Mobile, he influenced an entire generation of teachers. At home, he was a sports fanatic and loved watching his beloved Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots. He also never missed watching Alabama and Notre Dame play football. He took great pride in graduating from the University of Alabama with his Doctoral Degree. His family knew him to be kind, fair, and generous. Peter is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Virginia Kingsford, and his brother David Kingsford. Peter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Denise Kingsford; his children Jennifer (Jeffrey) Lami, Jonathan (Stephanie) Kingsford; his grandchildren Josie (Chase) Bahr, Jared (Claire) Lami, Jillian Lami, Jenna Lami, Justin Lami, Jacob Kingsford, Remy Kingsford, Allie Kingsford; four great grandchildren; his sisters Bonnie (Al) Comeau, Barbara (Chris) Borge, his brother Rick Kingsford, his sister in law Eileen Kingsford and numerous nieces and nephews.
