Randalene Motes

February 24, 2020
Randie (Randalene) Marie Gould Motes passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020. She was 72 years old. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Randie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She had a giving heart and always put others above herself, especially with her random acts of kindness. Randie retired as supervisor of small claims district court in 2002. She also previously worked for the Mobile County Sheriff's Department. In her retirement years, Randie worked for the Mobile Police Department as a community resource officer and volunteered with the Volunteer Lawyers Program. Her greatest joy in retirement was being the doting Nana to her grandson and heart, Ian. Randie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was also a member of a ladies' mystic organization. Randie will be remembered for her infectious laugh, and her favorite pastimes of Alabama football, traveling, Mardi Gras and Disney trips. Randie was reunited with her husband, Kerry L. Motes; parents, M.A. and George Gould; brother, Vernon Gould; and sister, Margaret Travelstead. Randie is survived by three daughters, Michele (Gareth) Jackson of England, Melissa Motes of Mobile, and Kelly Motes of Mobile; one grandson, Ian Motes of Mobile; two sisters, Janice Hanks of Mobile and Sherry Howell of Houston, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Christ United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Spiller officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
