Mr. Raymond C. Ward, a native of Prichard, Alabama, born on December 31, 1946, departed this life on August 6, 2019. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. He was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant until expiration. He served in many capacities. Raymond graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School, Class of 1965. After graduation he served his country in the United States Army. Raymond was employed by International Paper Company for thirty years until mill closure. After mill closure, he became employed by the Mobile County Public School System, until retirement. In addition to raising his children, Raymond parented eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Cornelia Ward; daughter, Valayasa Tilley; grandsons, Demorrio and Vendrick Tilley; mother and father- in- law, Lemuel, Sr. and Lubertha Taylor. He leaves to mourn a devoted wife, of forty-eight years, Lorraine Taylor Ward; two daughters; Andrea Sumrall and Kaprena Tilley; six sisters, Patricia Wilson, Consuella (Jerry) Cochran, Brenda (Edward) Smith, Carolyn (Parker) Norman, Janice Lewis, and Quintona Reiss; one uncle, Chris (Luvirda) Todd; two aunt, Nettie Vinson and Iola Ward; one godson, Victor(Shanice) Lewis; twelve grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral hour at Central Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Saint Stephens Rd, Mobile, AL 36612. Rev. Harry Pugh, Sr., Pastor and Officiating Minister. Interment will follow in the Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6100 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619 Mobile, AL.
