Rebecca Ann Fisher was born December 4, 1962 in Gary, Indiana, the second daughter of Pleas H. Fisher and Margaret A. Fisher. She was educated in the Gary Public Schools graduating from Lew Wallace High School in 1981. Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Music from Columbia International University; a Master of Divinity from Anderson University; a Master in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Rebecca began her Christian journey at the age of nine at First Baptist Church, Gary, Indiana. At this early age, she began to minister to neighborhood friends, teaching them the lessons she learned in Sunday School. As a young adult her passion for spreading the gospel led her to participate in Missionary trips to Mexico, Romania and the Czech Republic.
Rebecca was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1987; ordained by the American Baptist Churches of Indiana and Kentucky in 2004 and Ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church in 2010. She served as a pastor in Wabash, Fort Wayne and Bloomington, Indiana. Before moving to Alabama in 2017 to be closer to family, she served with the United Methodist Conference of Iowa.
A brilliant mind, Rebecca was full of grace and love for family, friends and others. As a voice major, she loved music and played several instruments. She enjoyed cooking, fine dining, movies, games and the latest technology. Through it all, Rebecca lived her best life and never lost her hope or her praise.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her Father, Pleas H. Fisher and nephew, Alexander C. McGuire. Left to cherish precious memories are her Mother, Margaret A. Fisher; sisters, Monica D. McIntosh (William), Victoria L. McGuire, who are all of Mobile; Nieces Ashley N. Kwateng (Prince)Chicago, IL, Megan C. McIntosh, Atlanta, GA, Shquana Washington, Mobile, AL. A chapel service will be held at 11am on Saturday, 06/22/2019 from Toulmin Warren United Methodist Church, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
