Reynaldo Edgardo Manas was born on February 5, 1942 in Havana, Cuba. He came to the United States in 1959 at the age of 18 in pursuit of a better and brighter future. He became an American citizen and served in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Felicity, on October 9, 1970 in Miami, Florida. They welcomed their first son, Rey Paul, and moved to Mobile, Alabama, where they grew their family by seven more children. Rey was a local businessman and entrepreneur who is well respected and loved by his community. Rey was a simple man and what brought him the most joy in life was being with his family and friends. As most of you know, he appreciated a fine cigar with his scotch. He will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.
Rey was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Manas; father, Reinaldo Manas; son Rey Paul Manas; and nephew, Rene Ruiz. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Felicity Manas; his children, Andrew Manas (Karla), Nicole Bodine (Daniel), Michael Manas (Elaine), Patrick Manas (Katherine), Katherine Robertson (Matthew), Clair Mathis (Keenan), and Caroline Saway (Nikolas); 26 grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Kristen, Jillian, Aiden, Landon, Carson, Alex, John, Joseph, Jacob, Kenny, Ava, Ellie, Reynaldo, Emily, Miller, Williams, Felicity Kate, Mary Adeline, Margaret, Anna Grace, Cecelia, James, and Mary Camille who is due in June; his sibling, Sergio Manas and Aliette Ellis; and other relatives, Sergio, Jr., Christina, and Arturo.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Arensberg as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Seale Harris, Camp Smile, or FARE. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
