Rhonda Kaye (Buckley) Koffler died Saturday, June 18, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Huey and Tommie Buckley of Semmes, AL. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Warren "Randy" Koffler; her children Lauren Koffler Denton (Matt) of Birmingham and Jake Koffler (Leigh) of Atlanta; grandchildren Kate and Sela Denton, and Pearce and Ellis Koffler; sister Connie Rolls, niece Stacey Rolls Fowler, great -nephew Brooklyn Rolls, and great-niece Gracie Fowler. Known as Meme by her grandchildren, Kaye had an incredible eye for beauty, and it touched everything from her attire, house decor, gardening, and cooking to her skill in and enjoyment of antiques, decoupaging, painting, and making handmade journals.
She and Randy moved into a one-hundred-plus-year-old cottage two years ago, and over the course of a careful, whole-house renovation, she transformed it into a gracious, warm, and elegant jewel-box of a home, with an incredible garden and a she-shed in the back. She loved spending time with her husband, kids, and grandchildren anywhere, but maybe especially at the beach. She was equally at home in a cocktail dress at a Mardi Gras party, on her back porch with a cup of coffee, or in a swimsuit on the boat. She was incredibly happy to have a lap full of giggling grandchildren. She truly was the best person any of us have ever known, and the fact that we had her as long as we did is the blessing of our lives.
Her faith in Jesus was the bedrock of her life, and that faith impacted every person she came into contact with, from her husband, children, and family to dear friends, her community, and undoubtedly a great many strangers. Her Bible is missing both its covers and a bunch of pages out of the concordance in the back because she returned to it day after day, flipping back and forth as she looked up a particular verse or passage. Her handwritten notes in the margins attest to her great love of scripture and her Lord. Her most fervent wish was that her family truly know and love the Lord, and that our eternity is secure. We cling to the truth that she's at complete peace and enjoying a joyful reunion in heaven with her Savior. "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:25-29.
