1939-2019
Robert Thurman “RT” Burroughs, a native of Duncanville, AL and longtime resident of Saraland, AL, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the age of 80. RT retired from International Paper Company after over 40 years of service; was a former partner of M&B Construction Company; was a Past President of United Paper Workers’ International Union; and a lifetime member and Deacon at Chickasaw First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Burroughs and Anna Lou Caddis Burroughs, and his sister, Glenda Burroughs Farley. His survivors include his son, David Carlton (Denise) Burroughs; his daughter, Rebecca Lynn (Gene) Pugh; two sisters, Shirley Burroughs (Wayne) Mizell and Charlotte Burroughs Scruggs; four grandchildren, Michael Burroughs, Steven Burroughs, Rachel Wade (Golden) Reeves and Cullen Pugh; his former wife of 41 years, Gloria Jean White; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be David and Michael Burroughs, Gene and Cullen Pugh, Scott Farley and Louis Mizell. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 10am on Friday, 12/13/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
