Robert Elliott

January 23, 2024
Robert "Cowboy" Douglas Elliott   Douglas Elliott was born on October 10, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama. Douglas lived in Mobile until the time of his peaceful passing, January 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love that touched everyone that he knew. In the year 2002, Douglas decided to give his life to Jesus Christ and became a remarkable man of God. He would spread the word to everyone that he talked to, from that moment on. He and his wife, Robin Elliott, ran a food bank, giving away food to the needy and preaching the word to anyone that wanted to listen, for about 18 years. Douglas was very adamant about this. He never missed a week to go and get loads of food for the food bank, because he feared he may run out of food before being able to feed everyone that showed up. There were, actually, a couple of times that happened and Douglas did not hesitate to start emptying out his own fridge, freezer, and pantry, to give to the people that were still in line. His marriage, of 42 years, to Robin Elliott was a testament to enduring love, a partnership that weathered the storms and celebrated the joys over the years. Together, they created a home with warmth, laughter and a love that knew no bounds. Douglas worked in Produce, almost, all his life. He passed that down to his children and even some grandchildren. Some stuck with it and others decided to branch out. Either way, Douglas was proud of them, no matter what decision they made, as long as it was a good one and wouldn't harm them. Douglas was a huge family man. All he cared about was doing right by the lord and seeing that his family was happy and taken care of. When it came to his family, Douglas always put himself last. He would spend his last dollar just to see one of his kids or grandkids smile. Douglas is now reunited with his father Robert H. Elliott, mother, Carolyn Y. Elliott, brother, James A. Elliott, nephew, James A. Elliott JR and mother-in-law, Eunice F. Hayes. He is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Robin H. Elliott, father-in-law, William W. Hayes and his sister, June E. Gravitt. His children, Anthony D. Elliott, Grady G. Elliott, Ted A. Elliott, Troy E. Elliott, and Alisa D. Elliott are a testament to the love he invested in his family. His legacy continues through his 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. As we reflect on his life, let us celebrate the enduring love, cherished memories, and the incredible mark that he left on his extensive family. May he rest in peace, now in heaven, surrounded by the beauty he so cherished.
