Robert McCorkel - Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery

Robert McCorkel – Born July 8, 1959 passed on Friday May 24, 2013, after battling leukemia for the past 5 ½ years. He was an avid Alabama and NASCAR fan. His passion and hobby made him an expert model builder of scale models- ships, tanks and planes. His intense interest in past warfare gave him the innate ability to quote factual information on most wars as to deaths, ships and planes hit or sank, or other pertinent facts. Preceding him in death were his father Charles P. McCorkel, mother Etta (Bonnie) McCorkel, brother Raymond E. McCorkel. He leaves to cherish his memory 3 sisters, Janet L. Lewis, Susan (Hoss) Patrick, and Virginia (Jake) Brady, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He also leaves his loyal canine companions, Buster and Bearly, whom he loved dearly. Graveside services and inurnment will be held Friday July 12, 2013 at 10:30am at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military honors to be performed by American Legion Post 250. The service will be officiated by Bro. Barr of Covenant Hospice. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Leukemia Foundation, SPCA or any other charity of your choosing.
