Robert Melvin Hoppe, “Bobby”, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama. He was born to Melvin Herman Hoppe and Frances Lehr Hoppe on February 2, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bobby attended Mississippi State University, where he was a member of the baseball team. He also served with the United States National Guard. Bobby owned and operated Bobby Hoppe Insurance for thirty-five years.
Bobby loved baseball, and was an avid collector – antiques, clocks, trains, lamps – being his main interest. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking in his spare time.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Baston Hoppe; step-children, William Bryan Hearn (Liza), Julie Ann Hearn (Terry), and Jason Theodore Hearn (Deana); grandchildren, Brinkley Madison Hearn, Emily Gracyn Hearn, William Preston Hearn, and Bryson Calder Hearn; one brother, George Donald Hoppe (Deb); as well as other cherished family and friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in the Mobile Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, located at 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619.
