Robert Wesley (Bobby) Rowell passed away at his home on October 28, 2021 after a long and courageous battle from heart-related conditions. Bobby loved Nascar, playing the piano, Corvettes, Harley Davidsons and most of all, he loved Alabama football. Bobby graduated from Vigor High School in 1960 and went on to join the United States Air Force faithfully serving his country before being honorably discharged as an Airman in 1966. While stationed in Savannah, Georgia, he met the love of his life, Pamela Crabbe. He became a proud father of Robert Wesley Rowell, Jr. in 1965 and Joyce Lynn Rowell in 1968.
In 1966, after leaving the Air Force, he joined the Asbestos Workers Local 55, retiring in 1992 after the birth of his first granddaughter. In 1999 his love for serving others continued into his retirement where he was devoted to the Gulf Regional Early Childhood Center, working with children all over Mobile County until 2019 after 20 years.
Bobby is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Pamela Lynn Rowell, his son, Robert Wesley Rowell, Jr. and his parents, Henry and Derian Rowell. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Lynn Givens, grandchildren, Chelsea Lynn (Michael Cole) Givens, Cameron Jeffrey Givens, great-grandson, Caleb as well as grand-puppy, Bruno and great-grand puppies, Kona, Ziggy and the late Callie girl. He is also survived by his brothers, Toby (Judy) Rowell, Kerry (Yvonne) Rowell, sister, Francine (Gene) Welsh, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews .
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The chapel service will be held in the Oakleigh Chapel of the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Gene Welsh, Elijah Welsh, Tim Chandler, Kerry Rowell and Eric McConnell.
