Rosamae “Madonna” Charrier Summers, a cherished mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 15th. She was reunited with her husband, Jesse Leon Summers, her parents, Clifton and Penny Charrier, and her sister, Beverly Ann Charrier. Madonna was born on January 15, 1942, in Cottonport, Louisiana. She attended Charity Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in New Orleans. After completing her studies, she relocated to Mobile, Alabama, where she began working at Alabama Dry Docks. Over the years, she worked at several hospitals before returning to Pinto Island, where she eventually retired from ADDSCO as a workman's compensation administrator. Madonna married Leon Summers, and together, they raised four children: Michelle Summers Barlow of Mobile, Lee Summers of Chickasaw, Ann Summers Ward (James) of Semmes, and Clif Summers of Chickasaw. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. Chickasaw was their home, and they spent many weekends at their camp in Butler, Alabama. Madonna loved fishing in the pond and later managing their blueberry farm. She also enjoyed the flowers and fruit trees Leon lovingly planted and nurtured around the property. A lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, Madonna also loved Disney and action movies. She enjoyed crafting and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Sewing was another of her many passions, and she took great joy in creating handmade items. Madonna is survived by her two sons, two daughters, and four grandchildren: Kelly Barlow Huff (Chase), Alan Barlow, Rebecca Ward Dykes (Roger), and Cody Ward (Sarah). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Jude Chase Huff, Parker Collins Huff, and Rozlyn Dykes, her sister Theresa Savoie, and nieces Brenda Morgan, Donna Morgan Hall (Van), Daphne Summers Reiser, and Donna Summers Cooper (Rod).
