Roy Davis - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Roy Davis

1937-2019
Roy (Skippy) Eugene Davis left this earthly life for his heavenly home May 30, 2019 at the age of 81. Roy was born June 29, 1937 in Montgomery, Alabama to John and Eunice (Cone) Davis. Roy graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama and went on to graduate from Arkansas State University on a football scholarship. Roy worked as a salesman, business man, and commercial and real estate developer. He literally worked from age 12 until age 75. Roy had a passion for Jesus Christ and spent his life sharing Christ with those who crossed his path. He read, studied, and memorized the Bible until he no longer was able. Even then, he quoted verses randomly and enjoyed hymns being sung to him. Roy’s patriotism and deep love for the United States of America led him to serve in many capacities in the Republican Party. His knowledge of our country’s history, the Constitution, the branches of government, the necessity of citizenship, and the respect for our flag was admirable and greatly respected. Roy had another passion-Alabama football. Roy loved the Crimson Tide, knew about every player and coach past and present, every stat, and watched and rewatched their games. His favorite phrase was “Roll Tide”! Roy was a man of character who touched lives from the gas station to the workplace. His counsel, compassion, determination, and integrity will long be remembered. Roy was preceded in death by his father, John, and mother, Eunice. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Jean (Thomas), son Joshua (April Johnson), daughters Carol (Neil Horlock) and Lisa (Jeff Johnson), 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his sister Blanche Marchetti, brother Charles Davis Sr., and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama. Donations may be sent to The Gideons International Processing Center P.O.
