Shirley Ann Beck Browning, 87, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2022, to the comforting sound of Our Lord's Prayer. She dedicated 38 years of her life to South Central Bell where she started as an operator and retired as a supervisor. Upon her retirement, she started volunteer work for both the Mobile Infirmary and the Mobile Country Music Association. Shirley Browning was the first woman to sit on the MCMA Board of Trustees.
Her last few days were spent in the company of SADD's Retreat. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the team that cared for Shirley (Beck) Browning. They will forever be remembered for the love and support they showed her and her family.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Mary F. Nelson; brother, Thomas Beck; children, Suzanne Davidson, Steve Browning (Richelle), Jeannie Knotts-Olensky (Alex), Mary Alice Browning, and Cindy Hopkins (Mike); grandchildren, Stephanie Gordan (Robbie), Meghan Cosgrove (Andrew), Kayla Hawes, Caroline Hawes, and Enid Cosgrove; as well as a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and great family friends.
She was preceded by her parents, James H. Sr., and Alice Beck; husband, Thomas J. Browning; brother, James (Buddy) H. Beck Jr.; and grandson, Stephen Browning Jr.

The services for Shirley Ann Beck Browning will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The visitation will be from 12:00PM to 2:00PM with services beginning at 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
