Shirley, a native and resident of Mobile, AL, passed away peacefully in her home at age 86 on September 14, 2019. She was born to the late Alice Goodwin Simms and Lawrence A. Simms in Mobile, AL on October 21, 1932. Widowed at 28, Shirley raised her three children wisely and well, encouraging them to develop their gifts and providing for their college education. She modeled honesty, integrity and personal responsibility in all things. Shirley retired from the State of Alabama after many years of service in both Forensic Science and Revenue Departments. She loved the beach and surf fishing and enjoyed antiquing and making holidays special for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H Breedlove, her grandson Mathew T Hatch and her niece and nephew, Jennifer D. Adams and Lawrence G Adams. Shirley is survived by her daughters Catherine Breedlove Barker and Ann Breedlove Carleton (Chris) and by her son John Carlisle Breedlove. Also surviving are her grandchildren Michelle Hatch Hinds, Valerie L Hatch, Lt. Michael T Hatch (Mackenzie), Robert A Breedlove, Luke M Barker (Jasmine), Lincoln E Barker (Elizabeth), and her great grandsons Mason M Miller, Ezra M Barker and Ander Grey Breedlove. She is also survived by her devoted sister Fay Simms Adams and niece Elizabeth A Morrow. The family thanks Comfort Keepers and Saad Hospice for their loving care.
