Stephanie Lynn Slaughter, 62, passed away at her home in Dothan, Alabama on October 11, 2021. Stephanie was born on August 3, 1959 in Mobile, Alabama to John D. and Myrtle Slaughter.
Stephanie graduated from the University of South Alabama in Mobile with a RN degree and a MSN degree in Nursing Administration. She worked at the USA Medical Center for over ten years. While working at the USA Medical Center, Stephanie participated in a nationwide Patient Care Study to improve the time a nurse spends at the patient’s bedside giving direct patient care. As the nurse manager of the sixth floor, her team was the focal point of the nationwide study. At the USA Medical Center, she was the recipient of the Excellence in Nursing Mentorship award. Working with several units at the university, Stephanie mentored new managers and students on her units. After retiring from the USA Medical Center, Stephanie worked for six years at the Chipola School of Nursing in Marietta, Florida. At Chipola, she worked as a professor of Pharmacology and a Clinical Instructor for Fundamentals of Nursing. Stephanie was an instructor for Medical Surgical Nursing and Geriatrics Nursing courses. Stephanie loved the Lord and was a devoted Baptist.
Stephanie is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Scott (Bill) of Hoschton, GA and Mary Ann Adams (Hershel) of Niceville, FL; and one brother, John Slaughter (Karen) of Mobile, AL; Aunt Stephanie is survived by five nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews.
We will miss our sweet sister.
