It is with profound grief and sadness that we announce the passing of Taylor Adam Rawlins, affectionately known as "Jackson" by his mother. He was a beloved father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and cherished friend, who left us unexpectedly at the age of 33. Born on April 30, 1991, Taylor was the sole son of Lisa Salusky Rawlins and the late Tony Rawlins. As the only child of his mother, Taylor was her most treasured blessing, and she held her role as his mother in the highest regard, cherishing every moment they shared. It was always Lisa and Taylor against the world, and they cherished the saying, "my cup runneth over.” His heart and light touched the lives of many, and his understanding of "family”, living by the saying, “The family you are born into and the family you choose or that chooses you”, exemplified his compassion, joy, and unwavering strength.
Taylor’s boundless love and devotion for his children, Landon and Helena, along with his deep connection to his mother, Lisa, and his devoted chosen father and friend, Steve Prater, were truly limitless. Taylor approached parenthood with immense joy and enthusiasm, making a lasting impression on the lives of his children. He was not only a cherished son and father but also a supportive brother to Timmy and Tony Rawlins, as well as Isdel Perez. Additionally, he was a caring cousin to Craig and Sharyn Peeterse (Charlotte, NC), Holly Gambrel and Crystal Brewer (Durham, NC), Brooks Dawson and Layne Dawson (Cary, NC), and Brianna Van Dillon, Breleigh, Timothy Jr., Tony Jr., Ayden, Asher, and Lexi Rawlins (Mobile, AL). Taylor is survived by several aunts and uncles, including Wendy and Sam Dawson (Cary, NC), Tana Gambrel and Shaker Al Bahrani (Kuwait.) His grandparents, Patricia and Thomas (Sal) Salusky (deceased).
Taylor was a dedicated sports enthusiast who enjoyed a variety of activities, such as football, baseball, and strength training. He also devoted time to coaching little league for his children. His vibrant personality, sharp humor, and warm laughter brought comfort and joy to everyone around him. He had a remarkable ability to light up and take charge of the “room!” It was often said Taylor, was a friend to many and warmly embraced the love from those around them. While we mourn the untimely loss of Taylor, we also reflect on the importance of fostering a safe and supportive community.
In honor of his memory, we encourage others to engage in conversations about domestic violence awareness, understanding that every small action can contribute to a safer world for families and individuals alike.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Saturday, August 31st, at Radney Funeral Home from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. A funeral service will take place the following day, Sunday, September 1st, at 11:00 AM.
