Thomas A. Southall – born December 24, 1918, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died Saturday, March 2, 2013. He was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and was a 1936 graduate of Murphy High School. Mr. Southall was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from G. M. & O. Railroad at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maureen Langan Southall, his daughter, Darlene Southall Covert, his second wife, Betty Davis Southall, his parents, Mary McCowan Southall and John Robert Southall; two sisters, Marie Antoinette Southall, Dorothea Southall Beaty, three brothers, John Robert Southall, Jr., William H. Southall, and Franklin E. Southall. Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Southall (John) Ellisor, four grandchildren, Chrissy Covert (Jacob) Welch, Amber Covert, Kellee Elizabeth Ellisor, Emilee Christine Ellisor; three great-grandchildren, Chase Covert, Conner Welch, Justin Welch; a special cousin and friend, Arthur (Brenda) Holbein; two step-daughters, Debbie (Kirk) Meeks, Linda (Paul) Yeager; other relatives and friends. The family would like to especially thank the nurses at Odyssey Hospice and the nurses and staff at Knollwood Pointe Assisted Living Facility for taking such good care of Mr. Southall. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 12 Noon. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
