Vera Arlene Cain, a native of Mobile and a resident of Fairhope, AL passed away August 18th, 2024 at the age of 70 after a long and hard battle with liver disease, kidney disease, and diabetes for many years.
She was baptized May 15th, 1966 at Magnolia Springs Baptist Church. She was a self employed housekeeper for most of her career, working hard and honest to help support herself and her family she adored. Cleaning isn't nearly all she did though, she loved to cook, read, and spend time with her family who loved spending time with her the same. When she wasn't cooking meals made with love she would meet her sisters at Cracker Barrel, as well as the workers who knew them by name and order. The chairs outside might as well have their names engraved into each and every one with the amount of pictures taken there every time they visited, smiles adorning their faces. It was their own special way of reconnecting no matter the troubles of life going on, they would always have each other's backs, through thick and thin. Even as they browsed the same sections of all the same stores due to her love of collecting all kinds of angels. She would keep them all around as if they watched over her every moment with heartfelt compassion.
No matter what would be going on she would always keep her head held high, always careful never to let her crown fall. She was never one to complain. A classic phrase held true to her until the end "I don't know" and "Well, it don't matter"being her staple. She was a kindhearted soul who wanted to follow the flow of things, not wishing to disappoint anyone, even if their cooking was more than a little questionable.
She was preceded in death by her mother Vera Draughn; her father Oscar Draughn; brother William Draughn; grand daddy William Davis; mawmaw Ramona Davis.
Vera Arlene Cain is survived by her sister Mary Squires of Foley; sister Carolyn Avera of Foley; Sons Wesley Hubbart, Bryant Hubbart, Terry Hubbart and Michael McClantoc of Baldwin County; daughter Christina Flynn of Mobile; eight grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
