William Donald Souder Jr.

May 7, 1935 - October 15, 2025
William Donald Souder, Jr, age 90, resident of Mobile, Alabama, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday October 15 in Mobile, Alabama. Born May 7, 1935 in Upper Darby, PA, “Don” touched the lives of many through kindness, warmth, and a generous spirit. In 1996, he retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a commercial artist, having spent most of his career doing graphics and signage for Naval ships. There was no object or person he couldn’t sketch, draw or paint with minimal effort. A veteran of the US Army and retired as Staff Sergeant from the 161st Medical Battalion, Alabama Army National Guard, his total years of service exceeded 30 years. He is preceded in death by his father, William Donald Souder, Sr, his mother, June McIntire Souder, both of Philadelphia, PA. He is survived by his daughter Cheri Thrower (James), son Kurtiss (Pamela), granddaughters Hannah West (Aaron), McKenna Beck (Brian), three wonderful grandchildren Hudson, Vivian and Benson West. His final life chapter would not be complete without mentioning his devoted caregivers, Charles and Sandy Campbell. In 2015, they graciously opened their home to him via sponsorship in the VA Medical Foster Program, providing him a quality of life, travel, care and selfless devotion. No truer saints walk the earth. Though Don is no longer with us, his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
