William Lee Tew, Jr. (Billy), 76m passed away on January 6, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, a deacon and beloved member of the Catholic Community. He was born on January 23, 1947 and attended St. Pius X School, McGill Institute and the University of South Alabama. He was ordained as a deacon of the Catholic Church in 1984 and served St. Pius X Parish for over 41 years as a teacher, adult and youth choir director and parish manager.
Billy was affectionately known to all the kids and their friends as "Uncle Bill." Anyone who knew him knew his love for music. He was proficient in many musical instruments, especially guitar and piano. He loved animals and rescued several cats and dogs. He started his own printing business in 1975 that continues to operate to this day.
Above all else, he valued his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, William L, Tew, Sr. and Dorothy Wagner Tew; and his great-nephew, Adam Clark. He is survived by his sisters: Lyn Tew Gump (Billy) and Kimberly N. Tew; his brother, Thomas S. Tew, Sr. (Emoline); his nieces and nephews that he treated as his own: Daniel Gump, Sr., Ryan Gump, Thomas Tew, Jr. (Angie), Melanie Beaty (Joe); great-nieces and nephews: Kathryn Kilpatrick (Allin), Daniel Gump, Jr., Willliam Gump, Jacob Clark, Emma Tew, Thomas Tew, III, Mabel Tew, Joseph Beaty, Margaret Beaty, Mary Bentley Beaty; great-great-nephews: Harvy Kilpatrick and Elijah Clark; and his cat, Gus.

Visitation for Deacon Tew will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 P.M. at St. Pius X Church (217 South Sage Avenue, Mobile, Alabama 36606) in the Sarto Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens (6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619). Followed by a reception in the St. Pius X Family Life Center. I
