William Gaines Stubblefield, Jr., age 74, native of Columbia, Mississippi and longtime resident of Mobile passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1964. He received a degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and a Master' degree in Hydraulic Engineering from Colorado State University.
Mr. Stubblefield worked for many years for the Army Corps of Engineers and retired in 2012. He was a faithful member and deacon of Dauphin Way Baptist Church. He loved God, his wife, siblings, children and grandchildren. Mr. Stubblefield was preceded in death by his parents, Gaines and Mary Stubblefield and brother, Pepper Stubblefield. He is survived by his wife, Janet Farnell Stubblefield, brother, David Stubblefield (Sandy); children; Gaines Stubblefield (Kelly), Elizabeth Stubblefield, Ben Stubblefield (Carrie) and seven precious grandchildren; Evey, Lily, Kata, Pepper, Samuel, Penelope and Mary.
Memorial services will be held at Dauphin Way Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Dauphin Way Baptist Church to be used to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
