Yvonne N. Wright, 81, passed away on November 9, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Born on December 9, 1937, she was a life-long resident of Mobile, Alabama, and was the daughter of the late Edward B. Norton and Edna Spottswood Herzog. Yvonne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 65 years, Gene, and her children Linda Wright, Debbie Sandifer (Buddy) and Robin Whitney (Wade). She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Courtney White, Zachary Sandifer and Blakeley Whitney, and by her great-grandson Elijah Sandifer. Yvonne was predeceased by her infant brother, Edward B. Norton Jr., and her granddaughter, Caroline Mercer Whitney. Yvonne attended Leinkauf Elementary, Barton Academy and Murphy High School, where she was a cheerleader. She went on to earn a business college degree and a real estate license. She then served as a bookkeeper at Phillips Preparatory School for 39 years and served in several clerical positions at B.C. Rain High School for ten years. She was a dedicated member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for almost thirty years, where she served in the church nursery for many years. She also attended Sonrise Baptist Church and Luke 4:18 for many years. Yvonne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was deeply loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events; watching their dance, cheer and ballet performances; and supporting many Special Olympic competitions. Her love for and devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandson was limitless. She will be greatly missed by them all.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, (6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile Alabama). A funeral service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 2:00, with the Reverend Dr. Fred Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery (6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama).

A chapel service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, 11/12/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
