Cecil C. Harvell

Condolences For
"Cecil C. Harvell"

  1. Cecil was a true Southern gentleman. Smart, caring, able to see thru the mists and focus on that which was important. He was a mentor to the younger folks (like me), even when it wasn't his job or organization. He truly bridged the gap between the technologists and operators. A true Communicator!

  2. To the Harvel family and extended family: I first met Cecil in 1984 when I arrived at the Pentagon for my first (but not my last) Pentagon Tour. Cecil was working several high-viz programs for the Air Force and the other Services as well. He was technically very - very smart. But that wasn't his greatest strength. Cecil understood that the first job of a leader is to grow new leaders. He took that responsibility seriously. He mentored young officers (like me) teaching the best to run the bureaucratic maze of the Pentagon. More than that, he ensured that we all understood the importance of the work to bring state of the art C4 Systems to the battlefield. I owe much of my professional development to Cecil. His induction into our Hall of Fame was richly deserved!

    Sincerely,

Anthony "Bud" Bell Jr, Brigadier General USAF (Retired)

  3. Greg and Jeff, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your father. Cecil was a mentor and friend to me since we first met when we worked in AF/XOO for the NMCC and other command and control systems and networks. He was always willing to offer advice and coach young AF officers on the real meaning of Command and Control networks and systems. he was truly a pioneer in the NMCC C2 networks and systems. He will sorely be missed by the Telecommunication community as he was able to turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones for others.

  4. A true southern gentleman. Met him at Electrospace Systems, Inc. He was wonderful to wor with over the years. God's speed.

    Helmut Tramposch, Col, USAF Retired
