Edwin Thomas Butts, Sr., a native of Enterprise, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died suddenly Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the age of 79. He was a member of Day Spring Baptist Church for 20 years; was a US Army veteran and served in the Army National Guard; and retired after working in sales for 60 years. He was a hard worker who loved his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, going fishing and was an avid Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Ruthen Butts and Emily Louise Littlefield Butts. His survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sheila Ramsey Butts; his sisters, Carrie Edna (Phil) Gore and Ellen Marie (Donald) Oakes; five children, Tina (Bruce) Thomas, Robin (Lee) Boyd, Donna Puckett, Terri (Brian) Mason and Tom Butts; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Oakes, Corey Puckett, Kevin Oakes, Brian Mason, Mitchell Wilson and JP Gresham. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton Rogers, Marc Butts, Ron Sanders, Dee Morris and Dillon Shiyou. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mr. Butts’ name be made to Women’s Resource Center, 308 S. Sage Avenue, Mobile, AL 36606.
A chapel service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, 02/11/2020 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
