Frederick Myles Smith, Sr., 92, passed away on March 4, 2024. Fred was born on February 28, 1932 to Alfred and Wilma Smith.   Fred was an excellent athlete in high school. After graduation he was presented with offers to play football in college. He joined the Air Force where he spent 8 years during the Korean War. He married Elena Jones in 1953 and celebrated 67 years of marriage. After serving his country in the Air Force, they settled down in Mobile where Fred became a builder and land developer. He developed 19 Subdivisions in the Mobile area and continued until he was 92 in Real Estate. He became a pilot in the early 70's and loved to fly. Fred's athleticism did not end after high school. Throughout his life he enjoyed staying active. He was on a bowling league for several years with a high score of 267. He also enjoyed golf and traveling. He was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, Dauphin Way Baptist Church and then attending Luke 4:18 the last few years of his life. He belonged to the Christian Businessmen's Committee early on in his career and worked with multiple organizations throughout his life. Fred is preceded in death by his son Myles Smith and his wife Elena Smith. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Smith; sons, Alan Smith and Michael Johnston; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is probably best remembered for his sarcastic one liner's and blunt responses. He was a good man and led a godly life. He will be missed.
