Mary T. (Polly) Cherry passed away from this life and into heaven Thursday evening, February 24, 2022.She was born in Mobile, AL on January 19, 1933 and grew up in Mt. Vernon, AL.She had been living at Grand Bay Convalescent & Rehab since January 2018 where she received wonderful care.Durning her 89 years, Mrs. Cherry was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher at school, teacher at church, caregiver, choir member, missionary, mentor, friend, prayer warrior, avid reader, tutor, pet lover, traveler, and runner.She loved Jesus, loved her husband, loved her children & family, loved her church, and loved her students.She touched hundreds of lives for Christ as she walked out her faith in Jesus over her lifetime.We are challenged to raise the bar in our own lives, to follow her footsteps as she followed the Savior Mrs. Cherry is preceded in death by her parents, William E. Thompson and Mabel Baker Thompson; stepmother, Velma Thompson; husband, Alex Hugh Cherry, Jr.; sisters, Virginia Sellers and Martha Donoghue.She is survived by her children, Chris (Judie) Cherry and Paula (Richard) Schaefer; her sister, Carol Nutt; grandchildren, Alisha Cherry, Joey Crawford, Alexandra Cherry; great grandchildren, Wynnie Crawford and Isabel Crawford; and many more nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
January 19, 1933 ~ February 24, 2022 (age 89)
Mrs. Cherry's life will be celebrated and honored Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Mobile Memorial Gardens.Family Visitation will be at 8:30, Public Visitation 9:00-10:00, chapel service at 10:00. Graveside service will immediately follow.Rev. Andy Hepburn will officiate.In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a donation to Grand Bay Convalescent & Rehab (13750 Hwy 90, Grand Bay, AL, 36541).
