Melinda Christine Phillips, (1926-2021) a native of Waynes County, MS, and a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL has passed away. She made it to her heavenly home on July 30, 2021, and died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Phillips Sr. of 60 years, her parents, two brothers, and one son, Melvin Phillips Jr. She is survived by her two children, Shirley Carroll and Daryl Phillips (Sheila); seven grandchildren, Wayne Carroll (Davina), Tony Phillips (Marla), Pamela Stewart (Gary), Patrick Carroll (Toni), Melenda Hinton, (Chris), Kristy Barnes (Shaun), Nicky Mendenhall (Tim); sixteen great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great grandchildren, one brother (Herman Stokley), one sister (Betty Jean Mauldin), and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Pathway Church with funeral services starting at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 at Pathway Church. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
