Garden of Honor

During the late sixties it was evident that the National Cemetery in Mobile was not going to have sufficient space to meet the needs of local veterans of military service.  Thus, families would either have to choose burial at a national cemetery many miles from Mobile, or purchase space in a local cemetery.  Neither option was desirable.

Mobile Memorial Gardens established the Garden of Honor to meet these needs.  It is limited to honorably discharged veterans and active members of the military, plus their families, not just a spouse.  In several of the four veteran’s sections, the company provides burial rights to veterans at no charge.  (There is a nominal fee for endowed care which provides for the continuing maintenance of the space.)

Not only does this benefit offer an honorable location, it gives families the opportunity to have funeral services close to home.  Since the Garden of Honor allows veterans’ families to reserve spaces together, it can be done in advance of need assuring the family can be together.
